Hi, I’m Alyssa.
I grew up on beautiful Vancouver Island, lived for many years in Scarborough, ON, and now call Huron County home - going from Canada’s west coast to Ontario’s west coast!
My journey into doula work began after becoming a mom myself and realizing what a difference compassionate, informed support can make during those early days. I’m a DONA-trained postpartum doula with additional training in breastfeeding support, and I’m passionate about helping families feel calm, confident, and cared for as they adjust to life with a new baby.
My approach is warm, practical, and tailored to your family’s needs. Whether that means caring for your baby while you rest, offering hands-on help with feeding and recovery, or simply being a calm, understanding presence in your home, I’m here to help you find your rhythm and feel supported every step of the way.
When I’m not supporting new families, you might find me tending to my very amateur garden, working out with a friend, or doing battle with my own laundry pile.
When you are choosing a doula, it is important to find a good fit for your personality and values. I created the STEPS acronym to summarize the values I bring to families I support:
Strong Moms – I believe that mothers have what they need within themselves to nurture their babies and recover from birth. My role is to help you build confidence in your instincts, discover your own rhythms, and feel empowered in the transition to motherhood.
Tangible Support – The early postpartum days can be both beautiful and demanding. I offer practical, hands-on help with infant care, household tasks, rest, and recovery so you can focus on bonding with your baby. Whether it’s heating up a nourishing meal, caring for your newborn and tidying while you nap, or simply listening as you process your experiences, I will help lighten your load.
Empathetic Care – My greatest strength as a doula is steady presence and understanding. Every postpartum journey is unique: some days will bring joy and others may bring tears. I’m here to support you without judgment, offering encouragement and perspective as you navigate new roles and responsibilities. I’ll be present and responsive to your needs.
Physical Comfort – Recovery after birth is a whole-body experience. I provide gentle, non-medical support to help you feel comfortable. This means suggesting positions for nursing or bottle feeding, soothing techniques for baby, and creating calm in your space. Together, we’ll focus on nurturing your body’s recovery and your sense of peace.
Starting Well – Postpartum is the beginning of a new season—for you, your baby, and your family. My support is designed to help you adjust to your new normal and ensure you have the resources you need to continue thriving beyond our time together.
